Eden Hazard shockingly revealed his decision to retire from international football on Tuesday afternoon following Belgium's exit from the world cup in devastating style.The former Chelsea star had captained the Belgian Devil's in all three games they played in the group stage of the competition, but unfortunately crashed out, finishing third in the group.
Following their performance in the world cup, Eden Hazard has announced his decision to quit playing for the Belgian National team. In an Instagram post, he wrote:
"A page turns today… Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unparalleled support. Thank you for all this happiness shared since 2008. I have decided to put an end to my international career. The succession is ready. I will miss you."
Chelsea defender, Reece James has become the latest to react instantly to the news of Eden Hazard's retirement. In the past, the defender had always been full of praise for the former Chelsea player. Surprisingly, when asked to name one former Chelsea player he would bring back to Chelsea, James said in an interview: “Eden Hazard. I just loved the way he played.
“I still love him. He'll go down as one of Chelsea's best players ever.”
In his emotional post, Eden Hazard was praised by numerous players, including Vinicius Jr., Thibaut Courtois, and Michy Batshuayi. Chelsea’s Reece James also made his admiration for Hazard known.
Hazard will always be remembered for the 2018 World Cup with Belgium where He helped Belgium reach the 2018 World Cup semi-finals, where they lost to the eventual champions France, and beat England in the third-placed playoff.
The 31-year-old made his international debut in 2008 and scored 33 times in 126 appearances.
