Chelsea eye £260,000-per-week Juventus star in shock transfer move after Mauricio Pochettino demand.
Per reports, Chelsea are weighing up a move for the former Arsenal man after Pochettino confirmed interest in him.
The Blues are currently in the market for a new goalkeeper, and per multiple reports, they are interested in former Arsenal man, Wojciech Szczesny. The future of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy at the West London is still in doubt and the Blues have been linked with a number of goalkeeping options.
Number one on the list is Inter's Andre Onana whom Chelsea are believed to still be struggling to agree a fee for. Brentford's David Raya and Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez have all been touted as potential targets for Chelsea. However, it seems Pochettino is now keen on bringing a former Arsenal keeper to Stamford Bridge.
According to TuttoJuve, the Blues are facing competition from Premier League rivals for the signing of Juventus star Wojciech Szczesny. The Polish goalkeeper left Arsenal back in 2017 and has become a key performer for Juve in the last six years.
Szczesny's contract is not set to expire until 2025 meaning the Italian side could demand a significant fee to let the 33-year-old leave the club this summer. Chelsea have not been convinced by either Kepa or Mendy last season with both goalkeepers failing to prove they deserve to remain as the club's No.1.
The Blues have not had a world-class goalkeeper at the club since Thibaut Courtois left the Blues back in 2018 - but Pochettino wants to change that this summer. Liverpool and Manchester City have shown with the signings of Alisson and Ederson that a world-class keeper can help achieve success.
Reports in Italy have stated that the Blues inability to agree a fee with Inter over a deal to sign Onana may see them switch focus to Szczesny. AC Milan's Mike Maignan is reportedly not for sale this summer but the Juventus star could be a smart purchase by the Blues.
