"Sign him before July 3rd!" Mauricio Pochettino wants Chelsea to sign this extraordinary player before pre-season.

Pochettino now wants Chelsea to have 'extraordinary' player signed before July, gives deadline.

Mauricio Pochettino now wants Chelsea to have Nicolas Jackson signed before pre-season starts on July 3rd.That is according to Nizaar Kinsella – who shared the update on Yahoo.

So, what is the latest on Nicolas Jackson and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

Well – so far – The Athletic believe Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with the Senegal international.

Fabrizio Romano then claimed that Chelsea are happy to trigger Jackson’s €35m (£30m) release clause in full, but are negotiating over how many instalments Villarreal will allow them to pay it in.

By the sounds of it, the deal is on track, but Pochettino has now set Chelsea a deadline to sign the “extraordinary” 22-year-old.

Kinsella explains how the Argentine will officially take charge of his first pre-season session with the Chelsea first-team on July 3rd once everyone has returned from their respective holidays.

Pochettino wants Jackson to be part of that first session, and is also hoping for Todd Boehly to have Moises Caicedo signed by that point as well.

That gives those on the recruitment team just under two weeks to get both deals sorted – Jackson is highly likely to be signed first given the fact he has a fixed release clause, whereas Chelsea will need to haggle with Brighton over Caicedo’s £80m asking price.

Chelsea have a busy schedule for Jackson to arrive in west London by July 3rd – Chelsea have a lot of work to do when it comes to outgoings.

A story from The Athletic states that Chelsea have until June 30th to include any money made from sales in their accounts for the first year of Boehly’s reign, in which time he has invested over £500m on new signings.

Therefore, Chelsea may find themselves focusing on deals to offload the likes of Kai Havertz, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, Conor Gallagher and others before finalising moves for Jackson and Caicedo.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea are in for a very, very busy summer.
